All About Social Sciences

8:30am – 9:00am EST

-Desiree Dias from UAE who is a third year student doing a double major in Psychology and Sociology. She has various on campus job experiences and is heavily involved in clubs!

-Niamh McKenna – from Guelph who is a third-year student, taking an Honours Specialization in Psychology and Major in Linguistics. She is involved in various organizations such as the Huron Mentorship Program, Huron Wellness Team, HUCSC and FERN Speech Languages Services in London. 

-Sanchi Shah – From New Delhi, India who is a third-year student pursuing an Honours Specialization in Economics. She has been involved with various on campus and off campus internship opportunities and works with the Huron Student Council.

This will be an open Q&A session for all students and their family members are welcome to join this insightful conversation. Ask us any questions you may have about the Huron-Harvard Business School partnership, opportunities for student entrepreneurs, small classroom learning experience, etc.

-Namra Amrohi from India who is currently a fourth-year student and has a lot to share about the residence experience and her internships!

Internships, Employability & Careers After Huron

What is the best way you can prepare for careers of the future? What do employers actually look for in students and what kind of university experiences should you focus on to pave your way to a successful career? How does Huron’s famous Guaranteed Paid Internships program work?
 
All these questions and more, as well as any questions you ask, will be answered in this highly insightful session that you cannot miss! Our panellists will be there to share with you must-know advice on everything jobs and career related during and after university from their own firsthand experiences:
 
-Jash Kalyani – A fourth year Honours Business Administration student who came to Huron from Dubai, Jash secured his first on-campus job within 48 hours of landing in Canada! Since then, he has held multiple internships at the Royal Bank of Canada, the City of London Government as well as on campus at Huron. Now, months before even graduating, he’s already secured his full-time job after graduation at a multi-billion Fortune 500 company! Ask Jash anything and hear the secrets behind his success.
 
-Alden Eakins – A fourth year Political Science student, Alden has worked as an Intern in multiple capacities, including at Maple Telehealth, Canada’s largest virtual care app before joining AstraZeneca this past summer, working on global health policy and strategic partnerships. He has recently been accepted to the London School of Economics for his Master’s Degree and will be sharing his story on how to choose an Undergraduate Program that prepares you for admission to prestigious Master’s Degree opportunities!
 
-Lexi Magder – from Aurora, Ontario who is a third-year student studying Governance, Leadership, and Ethics, and Political Science. She is involved in various positions at Huron including a Brand Ambassador, Promotions Intern, Associate to the President on the HUCSC, USC Representative on the HUCSC, and Huron Adventure Club President. 

-Courtney Santin – As Huron’s Coordinator of Employer Relations, and a graduate of Huron herself, Courtney will share with you how her team works to connect Huron students with the most prestigious employers across Canada and around the world. You’ll have the opportunity to ask her anything about Huron’s prestigious Career Accelerator and Guaranteed Paid Internships program as well as our Harvard Business School Partnership.

Student to Student: Life in London & On Campus

9:50am – 10:20am EST

What is life in London Ontario really like? Outside the class, what do Huron students do in their free time? Join us for this exclusively student-to-student open Q&A session where you can have a chat with our current students about anything: from London’s entertainment, food and music festival scene to epic campus clubs and sports as well as Huron’s trips for international students to Toronto, Niagara Falls, Ski Resorts and more
 
We have three amazing student leaders who will be joining us:
 
-Aryaan Lakhan Paul – from India who is a second-year student in the Economics program. He is involved in various organizations such as the City of London and the Forest city film festival.

-Tram Hoang – from Vietnam who is a fourth-year student in the Business program. She has been in London throughout high school & university and knows all the best spots around.

-Sarah Shelton – who is a fourth-year student and has lived in London her whole life, has various experiences she can share and answer any questions you might have!

Huron’s Culture of Care, Campus Supports & Key Next Steps for Students & Parents

10:30am – 11:00am EST

Calling all students & especially parents: Are you excited to learn about what you can look forward to the moment you arrive and begin Orientation Week? Huron’s Manager of Student Engagement will share with you the exciting plans in store for your arrival as well as the personalized international student, academic, wellness and emotional support you will have at our fingertips during your whole time at Huron.
 
Then, hear first-hand from the parent of a Huron international student about her son’s journey to Huron from halfway across the world and her biggest tips and advice for parents whose students are preparing for university in Canada.
 
Our Directors of Admissions will also be present to highlight last-minute additional scholarship opportunities you can apply to and answer any questions you have about your admission and next steps between now and September!
