LONDON, ON – Huron is proud to partner with Michael Medline, President and Chief Executive Officer of Empire Company Ltd., and Sobeys Inc. on to launch new Entrepreneurship and Innovation programming at Huron.

Medline, a Huron Class of 1984 alumnus and 2019 honourary doctorate recipient, spoke about the importance of the gift at a ceremony during Huron’s Homecoming and the launch of Huron’s inaugural Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation Summit.

“This investment reflects the need to equip our students with an understanding of the complex social, environmental and financial considerations facing today’s leaders and entrepreneurs,” said Medline. “Sobeys Inc. and I are proud to be working alongside Huron to shape the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders.”

Consistent with Sobeys’ commitment to diversity and sustainability, Huron’s new Entrepreneurship & Social Innovation programming will support the university in attracting and nurturing entrepreneurial-minded students from diverse backgrounds.

“We are incredibly thankful to Sobeys and for Michael’s continued commitment to Huron as a member of our Board of Governors, donor and champion of student success,” said Dr. Barry Craig, President, Huron University College. “I have no doubt that our inaugural Summit will inspire countless students and spark important dialogue amongst our broader community.”

Medline has also supported Huron’s new building, the Frank Holmes Centre for Leadership, Ethics and Entrepreneurship, including the naming of the Sobeys/Medline Boardroom and the Judy and Alan Medline Student Commons, in recognition of his parents.
