Huron University makes several announcements surrounding its responsibility to society, both locally and globally

LONDON, ON: Today, Huron University was proud to make several announcements during the 20th-anniversary celebration of its partnership with the World University Service of Canada (WUSC).

Huron University’s mission is centred around local and global social responsibility. Huron has a long-standing relationship with WUSC, and our students share the university’s recognition of the value of globally-focused initiatives. This year, in a demonstration of their commitment to international Leadership with Heart, Huron’s student body voted to increase their per-student contribution by 33 per cent to support more student refugees to attend Huron. Huron University is proud to announce the university will match the student levy and increase funds to support our Student Refugee Program.

Additionally, Huron University wants to reach out to those affected by the war in Syria. Today, we are proud to announce that up to five student refugees, already arrived in Canada, will receive a full-tuition scholarship from Huron University when they register. "These actions align with our mission – fostering a sense of responsibility for society exercised both locally and globally,” Dr. Craig said.

Huron was also proud to recommit $60,000 scholarships for students affected by the Trump Administration’s DACA decision. This announcement was first made in September of 2017. “We stand with the dreamers, we will support their aspirations and continue to give these students an opportunity to further their education in Canada,” Dr. Barry Craig, President of Huron University said.
