Assistant Professor & Co-ordinator, Chinese Program

Clare Gordon, PhD
My teaching aims to help students to increase their capacity and commitment to well-informed international and intercultural understanding.

Canada and China have prospects for an excellent future building on our long and fruitful relationship. To maintain and deepen that, we must be able to meet and communicate with each other. Person to person understanding arises through living interactions in the context of language and culture. Huron is the only place in the Western system where formal study of Chinese language is undertaken.  Small group settings, both in classes and outside, facilitate experiential learning. Students may begin with basic language courses; others may take courses taught in Chinese or in advanced-level Chinese/English translation.
