Professor, English and Cultural Studies

Teresa Hubel, PhD
I profoundly believe in the value of a radical pedagogy. For me, this kind of teaching means that I seek to go beyond the practice of simply offering my students some kind of knowledge but that I challenge what they have come to understand as knowledge, or what is normal, or natural, or to be expected in the course of their lives.

What Huron University College does best is something that can only be done properly at a very small institution, where students have regular and ongoing access to their professors who are also published researchers: namely, undergraduate research learning.

We create situations where our students can become researchers and writers themselves, and in many cases the work they produce for us goes on to be published in Liberated Arts, our undergraduate research journal or through one of the many websites hosted by our Library on our Scholarship@Huron repository.
