Honors Specialization Globalization Studies

Diyin Deng
Learning about systemic inequalities and injustices prevalent in our contemporary society inspired me to pursue an MA.

As a first generation Canadian, I had a personal and academic interest in human mobility. In my undergraduate studies, I became interested in diaspora communities in Canada. Thanks to the support and encouragement of my professors and the Huron Writing Centre, I am now in my first year of Master’s study in Anthropology, and studying in collaboration with the Migration and Ethnic Relations (MER) program at Western.

The interdisciplinary nature of my Centre for Global Studies degree suits my research interests in forced migration, refugees, transnationalism, and diaspora communities. I am looking forward to doing fieldwork this summer!
