Fourth Year, Honours Specialization in Political Science with an Honours Business Administration from Ivey (dual degree)

Trevor Wright
Huron has taught me to appreciate the value of everyone’s voices and the importance of listening to them,” Trevor says. “Because if I truly want to conduct business around the world, I need to understand all the stakeholders and how we can and will influence one another.

Through a partnership with the university and Aga Khan University Hospital Network, Trevor was able to go to abroad to work in a private hospital in Kenya where he analyzed the corporate, socioeconomic and cultural systems that influence access to care during his third-year at Huron.

He didn’t waste a second of his time there and prioritized connecting with as many people as possible, including Kenyan business leaders, diplomats, start-up companies and various social groups.

“Huron has taught me to appreciate the value of everyone’s voices and the importance of listening to them,” Trevor says. “Because if I truly want to conduct business around the world, I need to understand all the stakeholders and how we can and will influence one another.”

Trevor insists that every Canadian young person should engage in meaningful opportunities to travel, work and study abroad because there is no substitute for, “seeing, smelling, living with and experiencing,” different cultures, education systems and social structures.

“It’s hard to understand the implications of the things you learn in class until you live them, so when you travel abroad, you gain a completely unique perspective,” he explains. “This will make you an invaluable leader because all business is global business, so organizations need people who understand how to operate within international environments.”
